Días Grises

Bien, hace poco más de una semana que terminó Coachella (2008). Son tantas cosas, y en ánimos de los célebres “Dan le sac et Scroobius Pip” escribimos este breve fragmento titulado “Thou Shalt Always Think”. [ para unas cuantas fotos, ver: flickr]. THOU SHALT ALWAYS THINK - ENGLISH

Thou shalt not judge a festival by their ‘fanboys’.

Thou shalt not take the names of Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Nick Drake or Leonard Cohen in vain.

Thou shalt not worship somebody just because they were born in your same city and speak your same language.

Thou shalt discover that a fanboy rarely knows he is a fanboy.

Thou shalt discover that your first fanboy duty (if you are) is to sell tickets via your fanbase so festivals are profitable.

Thou shalt discover that your second fanboy duty (if you are, again) is to confuse your fanbase.

Thou shalt not throw your six dollar lemonade just ’cause there are mexicans paid to pickup your trash.

Thou shalt not follow Bob Dylan words literally, like “Everybody must get stoned”…you better hang out somewhere else.

Thou shalt not dance every single tune you hear, no matter how high you are or were.

Thou shalt not say “folk is dead” just because you don’t see girls in hotpants at those gigs.

Thou shalt not make the same type of music you wrote before as if nothing happened. Something has changed.

Thou shalt not complaint about every year’s lineup just because you’ve been there before. You’re not goldenvoice nor an invited musician.

Thou shalt not experience a festival and then do nothing about it.

Thou shalt not think music in a foreign language is better than yours just because you don’t get a single thing.

Thou shalt not think it’s great to be at world’s center without questioning it.

Thou shalt not eat without being gratefull about it.

Thou shalt not spend an entire set taking photographs. Better take’em with our eyes.

Thou shalt not feel bad if peeps laugh at you cause you’re different. Laugh at them cause they’re all the same.

Thou shalt discover by yourself that you can’t be any of those bands by having the same amps, guitars or dj gear.

Thou shalt not repeat what everybody tells you to do… find your own sound!

Thou shalt not think that you’re better than anyone just cause you have the money to attend any festival.

Thou shalt not wish to be different by the clothes you’re wearing, be different by what your mind can do.

Thou shalt trust yourself ’cause that’s the only thing that’ll really make you different.

And thou shalt always think.

No deberás juzgar un festival por sus ‘fanboys’.

No deberás mencionar los nombres de Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Nick Drake o Leonard Cohen en vano.

No deberás aplaudirle a alguien, sólo porque nacieron en la misma ciudad o hablan el mismo idioma que tú.

Deberás descubrir que un ‘fanboy’ rara vez sabe que es un ‘fanboy’.

Deberás descubrir que tu primer tarea como ‘fanboy’ es vender boletos para que estos festivales sean rentables.

Deberás descubrir que tu segunda tarea como ‘fanboy’ es confundir a las masas.

No deberás tirar tu limonada de seis dólares sólo porque hay mexicanos que trabajan recogiendo tu basura.

No deberás seguir las canciones de Bob Dylan literalmente como “Everybody must get stoned”…mejor hazlo en otro lado.

No deberás bailar ante cada sonido que esuches, no importa que tan perdido estás o estuviste.

No deberás decir “el folk ha muerto” sólo porque no hay chicas con minifalda en esos conciertos.

No deberás seguir escribiendo el mismo tipo de música como si nada hubiera pasado. Algo ha cambiado.

No deberás quejarte sobre aquellos que tocarán año con año sólo porque has estado ahí antes. No eres goldenvoice o un músico invitado.

No deberás vivir la experiencia de un festival y después hacer nada al respecto.

No deberás pensar que la música en un idioma diferente al tuyo es mejor sólo porque entiendes casi nada de lo que dice.

No deberás pensar que es genial estar en el centro del mundo sin cuestionarlo.

No deberás pasar todo un set tomando fotografías. Mejor tómalas con tus ojos.

No deberás sentirte mal si la gente se ríe de ti porque eres diferente. Ríete de ellos porque son todos iguales.

Deberás descubrir por ti mismo que no puedes sonar como aquellas bandas comprando los mismos amplificadores, guitarras o tornamesas.

No deberás hacer aquello que todo el mundo dice que hagas… ¡encuentra tu propio sonido!

No deberás desear ser diferente por el tipo de ropa que utilizas, sino por lo que tu mente es capaz de hacer.

Deberás confiar en ti mismo porque es la única manera en que serás diferente.

Y deberás siempre cuestionarlo todo.
